Reform of the Customs Code Working Group

One of the determining factors for success and competitiveness of European semiconductor industry is a highly automated supply chain with low administration and handling costs and short transit times.

A major reform of the European Customs system is under way, which will have a huge impact on the activities of the semiconductor industry and therefore is observed with high interest.

Through its member companies, ESIA brings together a large experience in highly automated and computerized supply chain and customs processing and has offered to actively contribute to the ongoing debate.

ESIA is an active Member of the Trade Contact Group, a consultative body composed by traders and the European Commission (DG TAXUD), to discuss the proposals in the area of Customs legislation.

The working group monitors proposed legislation in the areas of Customs, analyse all the related documents (Modernised Customs Code, Implementing Provisions, etc.) and draft comments/position papers.

The group also monitor parallel initiatives (e.g. Secure Operator, DG TREN) and research cooperation with other association and entities.

Working Group Chairman: Peter Proebster – Infineon Technologies

Trade Manager: Giovanni Corder
